They've told Perkins to prepare as if he's going to be a starter -- which ends up being meaningless, because they went on to say that they did that because it's easier to switch from the rotation to the bullpen than the other way around.

I think there's nothing wrong with putting both of them in the bullpen. It gets guys innings and experience without forcing them to throw too many innings at a young age. That's how Johan started.

And I wouldn't worry too much about trying to "predict" while the Santana situation hangs in the air. Either way, we want as many guys as ready as possible. And we'll need Guerrier helping to anchor the bullpen whether we have Santana or not.

I would think Blackburn and Perkins will have a better shot at cracking the rotation than Guerrier. Its hard to predict things at this point with this Santana trade still up in the air.

Haha, agreed.

Also, why don't people realize that it's a bad idea to take a solid reliever out of a shallow bullpen?

At this point it seems pretty clear that Neshek can't throw 100 innings, so we need another 7th-8th inning guy like Guerrier. Honestly. Erik from Marshall is as dopey as Andy from Cincinnati.

With the Twins having so many questions in the starting rotation, why not give Matt Guerrier a shot at the rotation? He has been solid as a reliever and when he made his few spot starts he showed flashes off consistency and effectiveness.
-- Erik F., Marshall, Minn.

Flashes of consistency? Does that even make sense?
