Let's be honest, he really didn't use his hand much anyway. He seemed like a face to plate kind of guy.

The biggest question here is if the injury is to his eating arm.

Bad things happen in threes: The coaches had better keep an eye on Matty Guerrier and Craig Breslow.

I'm disappointed, but not distraught. I have faith that somebody will have a great spring and earn Boof's spot anyway (Humber? Mulvey? Dickey?).

Baseball Prospectus just came out with an article talking about how the pendulum has swung way too far now, and teams are far too gunshy to give up their first round draft picks. They point out that after the top ten picks, the value of the picks drops off dramatically. To the point where you shouldn't be that worried about losing first round picks.

I don't know if I fully buy it (a draft pick, even if it's not an uber-prospect, is under cheap team control for 6 years if he makes the majors -- a veteran free agent is NOT). But we shouldn't have to give the D-Backs something good just to keep our hands on a draft pick.

Hard to believe they didn't show up on an MRI scan... I'm not a doctor, but I have a torn labrum in my left shoulder and you can certainly see it on the scan... these 2 tears must be very very small if they are not even seeing them... As a normal human, I'm sure surgery wouldn't be required, but I suppose if it's your life and you need to throw a ball 90+ mph to make a living, you have no choice as it'll only tear more and more...

I say go after Cruz.. I think that gives us the best bullpen in the Central for sure and one of the better overall pitching staffs in all of baseball... Ayala? Humber? Mijares? Dickey? Crain? Guerrier? Can any of these guys be anything but average? We need a strikeout guy for the 8th inning... Cruz gives us that. I'm on board for a trade or giving up a 1st rounder... besides, all we do is draft more pitching!
