Fire Gardy

Mismanaging games since 2002

Another rough night

There wasn’t really one thing that went wrong last night.  Nathan screwed up.  I think he can do that once every 25 times he pitches or so.  Instead of 25 times every one time he pitches, Jesse Crain style.

Other than that I don’t have much to say.  I’m out of town this weekend so maybe me not watching the Twins will cause them to win.  Stranger things have happened.

I was watching the game on my phone last night, as I was out of the house. Things were going swimmingly.

I got home in the top of the 9th, in time to watch Span get thrown out at 3rd. I then got to watch Nathan blow a save and Crain “pitch” an inning. (Well, almost an inning.)

    It might be me.

Man, I hope you are right.

We have 3 elite players (Mauer, Morneau, Nathan) a few good players (Kubel, Cuddyer, Blackburn) and then a bunch of garbage. If we can close the gap between our best and worst players (by eliminating our bad players, not the good ones, obviously) I think we have a shot to make a run.

I would put Span in the “good players” column too. probably guerrier as well.

Is anyone else amused that Crain’s last game before getting sent down was a walkoff loss, and his first one upon returning is another walkoff loss?

Perhaps Gardy should, you know, use him in a lower leverage situation a couple times? When he can’t literally lose the game in this instant?

I think this trade deadline will be a big test for the Smith administration. We have the parts to win, but need to augment them. If smith isn’t willing to add the right pieces now, will he ever? It isn’t like we have the next great middle infielder waiting in the minors. This season really might make or break his career as a GM

His career as a GM is already broken.

If he pulls off some sort of miracle this season, he has an outside chance of salvaging at least a little bit of his career/dignity.
